Tom White, Head Coach
Tom White is entering his first year as head varsity basketball coach of the Lady Sabres of Traverse City Christian School. Last year, he coached the Junior Varsity Team for T.C. Christian. White has coached for Traverse City Area Public Schools and Leland Public School where he earned Coach of the Year honors and led teams to conference championships in each of his varsity seasons as coach. Along with Hall of Fame coaches, Jim Anderson and Patti Tibaldi, White is co-founder of Michigan Basketball Academy (now Northwest Michigan Basketball Academy) where, for many years, the three ran basketball clinics, camps, lessons, and tournaments for elementary, middle school, and high school players. They also ran college-bound athlete seminars for those looking to play sports in college. Coach Tom White is a lifetime member of the Basketball Coaches Association of Michigan.
As head coach, White directs the coaching staff and girls basketball program at Traverse City Christian Schools.
"My first tasks as head coach are to assemble a dynamic coaching staff and prepare a beneficial summer basketball experience," White explained. "Our players are so fortunate and blessed to be led by such quality individuals as Kristin Miller and Lindy Boonstra. I'm really looking forward to what God has in store for us. I'm excited for our kids, our program, and our school."
Kristin Miller, Varsity Assistant
Kristin Miller is starting her sixth season coaching at Traverse City Christian. Kristin had the opportunity to serve as the head coach of the 8th grade girls after she graduated from college. With the support of her husband, she was able to continue her coaching career after beginning their family in 2007. She has assisted the JV and Varsity teams for the last 4 seasons. Kristin has had a passion for the game of basketball since she started playing in the 3rd grade. Kristin continued playing throughout school including 4 years as Captain of the Varsity team at Traverse City Christian until she graduated in 2000.
“The game of basketball has met my desire for fun athletic competition, relationship building, and has created many opportunities for me to put my faith and love for my Savior into action. It has been a platform for me to be a witness to others, and for God to mold me into the person he wants me to be on and off the court. I am so thankful for the opportunity to be involved with this program and am excited for this next season to begin!”
Lindy Boonstra, Junior Varsity Coach
Lindy Boonstra is a new addition to the Traverse City Christian Girl's Basketball Coaching Staff and is very excited to be a part of the program. Lindy played basketball for nine years in the public school system including varsity basketball at Traverse City Central. Later, she coached for two years at Traverse City East Junior High School (7th grade head coach) and two seasons as coach of the Traverse City Central Junior Varsity Team. Boonstra took a break from coaching to start a family. Today, with the support of her husband and two beautiful daughters, Lindy looks forward to her role at Traverse City Christian where she can share her love of the game, and more importantly, her faith.
“I’m looking forward to coaching alongside Tom White,” stated Boonstra. “He coached me as a player and is a mentor who has been instrumental in my development and learning of the game.”

Sabres Elementary Teams
